On arrival, you will be transferred to the houseboat. In the evening, enjoy a 30-minute Shikara ride on the lake. Overnight stay and dinner at the houseboat.
Depart from Srinagar as per road opening timings. The drive to Sonamarg offers another spectacular view of the countryside in Kashmir, in Sindh Valley. The Sindhu Valley is the largest tributary of the valley of Kashmir. The drive to Kargil passes through the panoramic village of Sonamarg (2740 meters). After Sonamarg, traverse the rough and wet Zojila Pass (3527 meters), known as the "Gateway of Ladakh." Continue towards Drass (the second coldest inhabited place in the world). Another two-and-a-half-hour drive takes us to Kargil (2710 meters), which gained significance after Ladakh opened for tourists in 1974. Overnight stay at the hotel.
After an early breakfast, en route, visit the monasteries of Mulbekh, Lamayuru & Moonlandscape, passing through Namkila & Fatula Passes—the highest passes on the Srinagar-Leh road. Continue to Leh, stopping at the 1000-year-old Alchi Monastery, the only Gompa in Ladakh built on flat ground. Then, proceed to Likir Monastery to see the splendid three-story Dharma Wheel Gompa. Be awestruck by the massive Buddha statues and the Indus & Zanskar River Sangam. Drive along the Indus River, visiting Pathar Sahib Gurudwara and Magnetic Hill (where cars defy gravity). Continue to the Leh Hall of Fame, which houses a museum of Kargil War memorabilia. Overnight stay at the hotel.
After a leisurely breakfast, drive to visit Hemis Monastery, 45 km west of Leh. Hemis is the largest and wealthiest monastery in Ladakh. From Hemis, return via the same route to visit Thiksey Monastery, located on a hilltop with formidable views of the Indus Valley. Thiksey is especially noteworthy for its gigantic seated statue of Maitreya and its Dukhang (assembly hall), which houses hundreds of rectangular prayer books stacked between wooden covers and bound in silk. Continue through a series of chortens to visit Shey Palace, the former summer palace of the King of Ladakh. Visit the 3 Idiots School Campus and Sindhu Darshan. Overnight stay at the hotel.
After breakfast, drive to Nubra Valley via Khardungla (the highest motorable road in the world, 18,380 ft). Arrive at Hunder by afternoon. Post-lunch, explore Diskit and Hunder villages, and enjoy a camel safari in the sand dunes between Diskit and Hunder. Overnight stay at the camp.
After breakfast, visit Diskit Monastery, then drive back to Leh via the same route, crossing Khardungla Pass. Reach Leh by afternoon. Enjoy free time in the evening to explore Leh Market. Overnight stay at the hotel.
After an early breakfast, depart for Pangong Lake (14,500 ft) via Changla Pass (17,350 ft), the third-highest motorable road in the world. Pangong Lake is the highest saltwater lake in the world, shared by India and China. Enjoy the beauty of the lake while appreciating its changing colors and fascinating high altitude. Overnight stay at a camp in pangong.
After breakfast, visit the lake at sunrise, then drive back to Leh. In the late afternoon, visit Leh Palace and Shanti Stupa. In the evening, take a walk around the local market. Overnight stay at the hotel.
In the morning, transfer to the airport to board your flight for your onward destination.
