With every bend in the road comes another postcard-worthy view—towering mountains, deep valleys, and pure rivers. By nightfall, you'll arrive at your campsite in Sarchu. Relax and imbibe the high-altitude spirit. Overnight in a warm tent under the stars.
Wake up early! After a good breakfast, it's time to hit the road once again. Today's journey passes through some breathtaking landscapes like Lachulung La (5,065m) and Tanglang La (5,260m), the world's second-highest motorable pass. The journey is long, but the landscape—wide open mountains, dream-like rock formations, and meandering roads—makes it so very worthwhile. By evening, you’ll roll into Leh, the heart of Ladakh. Check into your hotel, unwind, and let the mountain air work its magic.
After breakfast, gear up for an unforgettable drive to Nubra Valley via the legendary Khardung La (5,359m), the world’s highest motorable road. The thrill of crossing this pass is unbeatable! Once in Nubra, you’ll be greeted by an otherworldly landscape—rolling sand dunes, rugged mountains, and the rare double-humped Bactrian camels. Spend the afternoon exploring Hunder Sand Dunes or just lazing around by the Shyok River. Overnight stay in a charming camp or hotel.
Wake up in the serene environment of Nubra, have a relaxed breakfast, and then head to Diskit Monastery, which houses a gigantic Maitreya Buddha statue overlooking the valley. Having absorbed the tranquility, it's time to head back to Leh on your return journey. After returning, the rest of the evening is free—take a walk through Leh's lively bazaars, have a cup of butter tea, and perhaps do some shopping for souvenirs. Dinner and overnight at Leh.
The highlight of the day is Pangong Lake, one of the world's most stunning high-altitude lakes. The road passes through Chang La Pass (5,360m), with prayer flags blowing in the freezing wind. While driving towards the lake, you will be enchanted by the view of its shifting shades of blue. Relax in the evening along the lake shore, enjoying the otherworldly beauty of the location. Overnight at a lakeside camp beneath a star-studded sky.
Wake up early to witness the sunrise over Pangong Lake—a view you will never forget. After breakfast, begin the return journey to Leh, stopping at Hemis Monastery, one of Ladakh's biggest and most important monasteries. Upon return to Leh, spend your last night in the town—maybe with a Tibetan dinner and a peaceful stroll around town. Overnight in Leh.
After breakfast, it’s time to explore Sham Valley, where Ladakh’s history and natural beauty come together. Visit the Hall of Fame Museum (a tribute to Indian soldiers), stop by the gravity-defying Magnetic Hill, and witness the dramatic confluence of the Indus and Zanskar Rivers. You’ll also visit Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, a sacred Sikh shrine nestled in the mountains. Overnight stay in Sham Valley.
Breakfast and then proceed to Kargil. En route, visit Lamayuru Monastery, which rests in the midst of peculiar lunar-like rock formations, giving the place its sobriquet, "Moonland." The ride also takes you atop Fotu La Pass (4,108m), the highest point on the Srinagar-Leh Highway. In the evening, you will arrive in Kargil, a town indelibly marked in India's history. Overnight in Kargil.
On day nine you will drive into the beautiful Drass Valley, one of the chilliest settled regions on the planet. Visit the Kargil War Memorial, a sad reminder of the 1999 war heroes. As you approach Srinagar, the terrain changes from rugged hills to green valleys, welcoming you to Kashmir. On reaching Srinagar, stay in a houseboat or hotel and relax. Overnight in Srinagar.
Wake up to the peaceful waters of Dal Lake and enjoy a relaxing Shikara ride. Today, you’ll explore Shankaracharya Temple, which offers panoramic views of the city, and visit the stunning Mughal Gardens—Nishat Bagh and Shalimar Bagh, built by the Mughal emperors.
